November

Well, I tried to update my site and screwed it up. but it's all back together now looking better than before (I think so anyway!)

I have completed a few things whilst trying to fix this site.

Firstly I have P clipped the brake, clutch and battery lines to the chassis as per the CD and almost every other build site.

I'm changing the build slightly in as much as I'm delaying fixing the coolant pipes until I have fixed the luggage containers, that way I should be able to,

a) Fix the containers without the need to cut them about too much and,

b) Get the right height for the coolant pipes running along the back of the containers.

There might be a good reason that nobody else has done this but for the moment I can't think of one. I've decided to line the containers as well with acoustic cloth (as I couldn't find thin enough carpet) it's red as well!

Well looks like I am about to run out of web space, so until I get more it'll just be text.

Spent most of Friday and Saturday nights printing labels for the loom, got up to number 74 and ran out of tape. Spent most of Sunday morning labelling the loom, will finish it Monday night after I have bought some more tape for the missing ten labels. (Sounds like the Fast Show, ''This week, I mostly be labelling '')

At the beginning of this build I said that I wouldn't be going into a lot of detail of the build as there are some really good detailed sites out there, allbeit for GTR's which the majority of the time would be the same build procedure. EXCEPT for the luggage containers which on the Can-Am require a lot more cutting as there are extra diagonal  rails strengthening the front and back of the opening.  When I get more web space I will post some pictures.  Needless to say the first container I cut, drilled and deburred then realised that I couldn't get the 90 degree drill in the confined space to drill all the chassis holes!!!!!  But as I will be lining them this isn't going to be much of a problem (not that you would have seen them anyway). At which point I got a bit fed up and start on the heater as I can't fix the left hand luggage container until I know the position of the heater hoses running through the back at the top, seems I'm missing the big alloy 'P' clips to hold these pipes as well..................

Feels like I'm doing a lot of work but getting nowhere.      Ah well tomorrow's another day, even if it is Monday......................

Well, didn't get out into  the garage as it was Matthews birthday so we went out for a meal.

I have now fitted the heater as per the build CD attached the hoses and fed them through the luggage container, once I'm happy with the fit I'll start the right hand side and then cover them with heat mat and line them with the acoustic covering.

Luggage containers have now been notched around the chassis rails (more work than on a GTR) and they are now covered in heat mat and lined with the red acoustic cloth, looks good and I'm satisfied.

Met Andy (andycanam) from PistonHeads Saturday afternoon, gave me some tips and more importantly encouragement.

Finally pinned the luggage containers and coolant pipes in place, started to wrap the heater hoses going through the passenger container in heat mat took what seemed like ages but satisfied with result, carried the heat mat on up to the heater as well.

P clipped some of the wiring loom at the front in place and cable tied the rest along the battery cable, just go to figure out where the rest goes in the engine bay !  While I was there connected the hand brake and cables. Must sort out the wiring, just waiting for my friend Colin to start installing the alarm while it's all accessible.

Well, spoke to the factory and the body should be with me around mid December which means I have time to complete the alignment, connect the handbrake, finish off the wiring with part of the alarm wired in. I'm now looking around for switches, I've seen some stainless round button switches which I'll take a look at on Saturday.

Spoke to the factory today and confirmed the delivery date of the body and a few more bits and pieces, the all important date is Friday December 10th............

Not much to comment on, I've been tidying the wiring, attaching the brake calipers and brake lines and I will be fitting the wheels later this week and completing the alignment. Still looking for switches, Andygtt has given me the name of a company (CPC) to contact, which is on my 'to do list'.

ON TO DECEMBER
