Update.

Sunday March 18th.

A company that does detailing Refined Reflections came over to polish the car and get it back to looking like new, after two years in the garage and with the body being fitted then taken off and refitted time and again, it was starting to look a bit worse for wear and it hasn't even seen the road yet! It took all day to 'cut' the body back and wax it to a superb finish the pictures do not do it justice or the amount of work that went into it.

Sunday March 25th

Tom Newman, a guy that builds engines came over today to give the engine a quick once over to make sure that the timing was correct and also the carburetion. Well the timing was out by around 12 degrees and the carb needed a little attention, but after 40 minutes the timing was correct and the carb was around where it should be. Tom couldn't get it spot on as the engine had zero miles on it and needed to be run for a while. We agreed that I would run the car for a couple of hundred miles as a shake down then I would take the car to him so that he can get it running smoothly.

That meant that this was the BIG day, I would finally get it out on the road for the first time.........................................

I have to say that I was very nervous, I have never driven anything this powerful before, so to say that I took it steady is an understatement, but it went quite well. I did 28 miles of steady driving, came home and checked the engine for leaks! It didn't let me down I found three!!!!! one from the valve cover breather, and one from either end of the intake manifold (I think) where there are two different metals meeting, the cast iron block and the aluminium intake, these expand at different rates and the sealant hasn't done its job. Looks like a strip down and reseat/seal the manifold.

I have also ordered a new fuel pump as the Holley I have at the moment is very noisy and the pressure is irregular, while I was at it I also ordered an oil accumulator which will be plumbed into the pressurised side of the oil system to pump five pints of oil into the system at start up and also if the oil pressure drops under heavy braking/cornering.

More updates soon.
